Looking for Performers

Have you written some material that EVERYONE that is Konkani needs to hear? Are you pretty good with a comedy? Are you a dramatist itching to show off your work? Does your group have a creative item that they'd like to show to the rest of the Konkanis?

You just might be the perfect candidate for a spot on the Variety Entertainment Show at the Konkani Sammelan 2008!

We're looking for small groups from various regions who want an opportunity to perform in one of the best forums that share your ethnicity. We'll supply the time slot, audio/video (A/V) equipment, and a free performance space for you to be able to perform, demonstrate, present, read, sing, dance, act, joke, teach, or do whatever else you can come up with that would entertain, educate of just plain be of interest to Konkanis! Guidelines for Potential Performers:

1. Audition: Potential performers must submit a proposal to perform (more info at bottom of this page). In addition, please send us your audition material by January 31, 2008 for the review process.
2. Sponsorships: Our funds are limited, so we are unable to sponsor performers (provide travel, accommodation, VISA sponsorship etc...)
3. We are primarily looking for group items with participants from outside the San Francisco Bay Area (under the other regions category).
4. Facilities: Stage & A/V system will be provided with following facilities:
   1. Speakers / 16 Channel Mixer
   2. Projector/screen
   3. Monitor Speakers (if needed)
   4. Wired/Wireless Microphones (as needed)
   5. Lighting effects as requested
5. Since we have a large number of activities planned, each program duration must be kept at a reasonable level (10-15 mins). Also, we are unable to accommodate the following types of programs:
   1. Solo items ( Below 35 yrs 'youths' can contact Konkani Idol organizers for a possible spot )
   2. Items that may not appeal to a wide audience/age group
   3. Full electric bands or items that may need long lead time to setup
6. Each proposal will be reviewed individually to ensure that it fits within our overall format and for sound requirements/limits etc. We're not limiting this opportunity to music, dance, or drama; we'd love to hear your creative ideas!
